The 1928 Philadelphia minted Peace silver dollar has the lowest mintage in the entire series with only 360,649 pieces produced. With the Great Depression starting to take its toll on the United States economy, the demand for coinage by the American people began to drop. In fact, there are no Peace silver dollars minted between 1929 and 1933.

- The 1928 one dollar silver certificate is common with around 640 million printed. Each note has a blue seal on the left side. In general, this silver certificate will not be worth much, but there are some rare varieties that can be quite valuable. These were the first notes to be called funnybacks.

Additional Info: 1928 was the last year the Peace Dollar was issued this decade. It was not until 1934 that the US Mint would continue with the minting of this particular Dollar. This mintage (Philadelphia) is worth substantially more than the 1928 Peace dollars minted elsewhere. If this coin is in great condition and sold to a collector it might bring up to $5,000 and thats no chump change. Just 360 thousand Peace dollars were issued at this mint.
Numismatic vs Intrinsic Value:This coin in poor condition is still worth $478.95 more than the intrinsic value from silver content of $21.05, this coin is thus more valuable to a collector than to a silver bug.
